Railway's new scheme You may get to travel Rajdhani, Shatabdi at ordinary express fare from April 1st

Good news for train travellers from April 1 the Indian Railways will allow waitlisted passengers to travel in the next alternative train that is  going towards the destination their ticket is booked for. From 1 April, passengers will be able to get the opportunity to travel on Rajdhani or Shatabdi trains, even if they have booked tickets at other  express/mail trains for the same destinations. Railways is launching a new scheme starting from April 1st. Registered passengers can obtain  confirmed accommodation on the next alternative train if they opt for the same when booking their tickets. According to the scheme, there will  be no extra charges for passengers.

Indian railways new scheme is named as "vikalp" this scheme aims to use vacant berths on many premier trains including Rajdhani, Shatabdi,  Duronto and other specials such as Suvidha trains on all major routes. Railways have to return on Rs. 7,500 crore per year as reimbursement to  customers for cancellation of tickets for various reasons.

After the introduction of the flexible fare system on the main trains, some berths are vacant, while at the same time many passengers could not  be accommodated in other Express / Express trains due to the huge demand. In any case, these berths are vacant, so anything we can save in  refund is going to be a saving for us, there is no additional cost for the railways, so whatever we save will be profits for the railways, added  the official. Currently, the railway is executing the scheme on six routes including the Delhi-Lucknow, Delhi-Jammu and Delhi-Mumbai sectors  from November 1 onwards.

ONLINE TICKETING
This system is available for online tickets now but will be extended to over-the-counter sale as well as the necessary software being prepared  for the purpose. According to the scheme, the passengers of a train will have the option to get a confirmed accommodation in the next train that  circulates by the route. While there is a high demand for train berths in certain sectors during the year, some routes are witnes increased rush  during festive seasons. If a passenger opts for the Vikalp program while booking tickets, you will receive an SMS alert on your mobile phone  about getting the confirmed accommodation on the alternative train. The name of the passenger who has provided accommodation on the alternate  train does not figure on the waiting lists of his original train, the official said, adding that a separate list of passengers transferred on  the alternate train will be pasted along with the confirmed charts.
