          Blood is made up of same basic elements,not blood is alike.There are 8 different common Blood types,but in the eight blood groups there are only four major common blood groups.Different blood groups are determined by the presence and absence of two certain antigens (A & B) substances on the surface of red blood cells.In addition to these two antigens A and B there is one third antigen called as Rh factor.These Rh -ve blood is given to Rh -ve patients only.They can give Rh +ve blood or Rh -ve blood may be given to Rh positive patients.Blood types are very important when a blood transfusion is necessary.In the blood transfusion process,a patient must receive a blood type compatible with their own blood type.If the blood types are not compatible red blood cells will clump together,or making clots that can block their blood vessels and that may lead to death.While blood transfusion the important thing you need to know is blood types be matched before blood transfusion.In emergency case type "O" blood can be given because it is most likely to be accepted by all blood types.Because "O" blood is universal donor.

What is RH Factor in blood group:
          Rh factor in blood types stands for "Rhesus Factor". Blood tests were performed on Rhesus monkeys and the Rh+ and Rh- factors were isolated. Antigen found in the red blood cells those who have Rh factor are said to be Rh positive (Rh+), while those who don't are Rh negative (Rh-).

There are four major blood groups determined by the presence or absence of two antigens – A and B – on the surface of red blood cells:

Group A –    Only A antigen on red cells (and B antibody in the plasma).
Group B –    Only the B antigen on red cells (and A antibody in the plasma).
Group AB – Both A and B antigens on red cells (but neither A nor B antibody in the plasma).
Group O –    Neither A nor B antigens on red cells (but both A and B antibody are in the plasma).

Universal red cell donor has type O negative blood type.
Universal plasma donor has type AB Positive blood type.

Different Blood Types:
Blood type A - Most ancient and existed before the human species evolved from its hominid ancestors.
Blood type B - To originated some 3.5 million years ago, from a genetic mutation that modified one of the sugars that sit on the surface of red blood cells. creating type O, which has neither the A nor B version of the sugar.There is AB, which is covered with both A and B sugars.But incompatibility is not part of the reason humans have blood types.
